Before you decide on who you want to do your hair and makeup on your big day, its a good idea to make a little pininterest board of styles that you like and even pin up some that you don’t like. This helps clarify in your own mind what sort of ‘look’ you want to achieve. Adding pictures of your dress, flowers and the venue all help to create the backdrop to the style that you want.
Next look around at different hair and make up artists websites. Do you like the pictures of their work? Are the genuine pictures or have you seen them on other sites indicating that they are stock photographs and not their own work at all. Have they got lots of positive recommendations? Do they have a landline as well as a mobile number? All these little indicators will help you decide who you go with.
When you have found someone that seems to do the styles that you like email/call them. I think you can tell a lot from an email/text about their customer service and professionalism. If they are slow to reply, it could be a sign of things to come.
All good hair and makeup artists will insist on a trial. This is usually done 6-8 weeks before the wedding. A trial should be relaxed and fun, lasting an hour or two. It should leave you feeling confident that you are going to look absolutely gorgeous on your wedding day. The artist should take some pictures of your style so that she can email them to you and also make notes on the products and methods that she used.
On the day of your wedding, to help with the smooth running of the morning it is great to have an appointment list, especially if there are lots of you having your hair and makeup done. This is so everyone knows when they are needed and no one gets caught out going to the loo or having a nice leisurely shower. ( ring a bell miss T?!!)
The most important thing to remember is that your wedding day should be a fun and relaxed. This means having professional people around you that you know you can trust to do a great job and who will also enhance your day.
Good luck with choosing! xx
